Leonteus of Lampsacus and his wife Themista were among the early students Epicurus gathered in Lampsacus, and both remained close to him after he moved to Athens. Diogenes Laertius names them among Epicurus' distinguished followers and mentions his letters to them. Themista is one of the few women of the ancient philosophical schools whose name has come down to us.
