The EpicureanFriends Files section is where our Level 3 and above participants store longer documents created offsite which are of special interest to the study of Epicurus. You can use the "Categories" box on the right to find specific sections of the library.

A single-page PDF of the 12 Fundamentals of Nature (Physics) and the 40 Key Doctrines (Canonics, Ethics).

Due to my age I remember a time before smartphones when I carried around my notes and to-do lists on printed pieces of letter-sized paper folded to fit in my pocket. Today I decided I wanted to have that same kind of ready access to the main Epicurean doctrines, so I produced the attached PDF of the 12 fundamentals of nature (physics) and the 40 doctrines. I also hope to use this as a handout at Meetup meetings and other presentations in the future. As I find typos and/or make improvements I will update revisions here. I hope someone finds this helpful. (Download by clicking the blue button at the top right.)

Finding Things At EpicureanFriends.com

Here is a list of suggested search strategies:

  • Website Overview page - clickable links arrranged by cards.
  • Forum Main Page - list of forums and subforums arranged by topic. Threads are posted according to relevant topics. The "Uncategorized subforum" contains threads which do not fall into any existing topic (also contains older "unfiled" threads which will soon be moved).
  • Search Tool - icon is located on the top right of every page. Note that the search box asks you what section of the forum you'd like to search. If you don't know, select "Everywhere."
  • Search By Key Tags - curated to show frequently-searched topics.
  • Full Tag List - an alphabetical list of all tags.
