    What is your experience with "Friendsgiving"? 3

    1. I've never heard of it till now (1) 33%

    3. Modern Epicureans already have "Friendsgiving" on the 20th of every month (1) 33%

    5. "Friendsgiving" and "Thanksgiving" are the same thing in my mind (0) 0%

    This seems like something modern day Epicureans would enjoy: "Friendsgiving"... looked it up on Wikipedia:

    Friendsgiving is a Thanksgiving-themed feast meal typically eaten prior to or instead of a family Thanksgiving dinner in the United States. Gathering are typically a group of close friends, often millennials, although participation has broadened.

    The meal began as an additional holiday or as an alternative to the traditional family Thanksgiving gathering for people who could not or did not want to go home for the holiday. For some celebrants, Friendsgiving has evolved from a pre-Thanksgiving gathering to replace traditional Thanksgiving entirely. Most celebrate it as a separate event during the Thanksgiving season.

    One of my friend groups is doing a Friendsgiving. The wife and kids are going down south for Thanksgiving as her father just started having heart trouble in the last week. My extended family is all scattered to the winds and so I am working some extra shifts at one of my jobs so some other guys can have Thanksgiving off, assuming I get over this flu that's left me bedridden for the past 2 days. I guess either way I'm skipping this Holiday, which is fine as November Eikas was awesome and I've got a mens group starting next week as well.

Finding Things At EpicureanFriends.com

What's the best strategy for finding things on EpicureanFriends.com? Here's a suggested search strategy:

  • First, familiarize yourself with the list of forums. The best way to find threads related to a particular topic is to look in the relevant forum. Over the years most people have tried to start threads according to forum topic, and we regularly move threads from our "general discussion" area over to forums with more descriptive titles.
  • Use the "Search" facility at the top right of every page. Note that the search box asks you what section of the forum you'd like to search. If you don't know, select "Everywhere." Also check the "Search Assistance" page.
  • Use the "Tag" facility, starting with the "Key Tags By Topic" in the right hand navigation pane, or using the "Search By Tag" page, or the "Tag Overview" page which contains a list of all tags alphabetically. We curate the available tags to keep them to a manageable number that is descriptive of frequently-searched topics.
