An fyi - I will be getting back to doing some refiling of threads in the coming weeks...We now have 700 posts in the General Dissussion Forum, and due to the complexity of the forum layout I know it can be hard for all of us (myself included) to determine the best place to post. This also brings up to mind that there could be the necessity for further reorganization of the forum, to make it easier to post and to find things.

Right now we have a large number of threads dealing with "Ethics" and "Lifestyle" and "Virtues" which are all related but currently filed under separate areas, and I will be thinking about possible ways to restructure the "Forum List" page so as to quickly find subsections.

So if something that you originally posted in "General Discussion" is no longer there, you can check your personal postings page (under your profile) to see where it has been moved, or send me a message with any questions.

Do we have a sense of how the forum handles internal links to threads that have been moved?

I am pretty sure Joshua that the forum does an excellent job handling movement of the posts. I have not seen issues arise with unfulfilled redirections after moving things around. If anyone *does* observe that at any point, let us know here, but the forum software is set up to allow exactly the kind of thing Kalosyni is doing.

Moved the thread from forum Forum Technical Announcements And Maintenance Issues to forum Forum Announcements.

Hi Everyone, I am going to be doing (a little at a time) some filing of older threads located in the "General Discussion" section into their respective category based on their title.

If you are the orginator of a particular thread, then the forum should give you a message that your thread has been moved. If it looks like the place that I moved it isn't quite right, please let me know, by private message, what you think might be a better location. Thanks! :)

    Quote from Kalosyni

If it looks like the place that I moved it isn't quite right, please let me know, by private message, what you think might be a better location.

And, with regard to a particular thread, if you think we need to add a sub-forum section as a better location, please let me know.

Once again trying to do some filing of threads posted in General Discussion. If you were the originator of a thread and believe that it should have been filed in a different location, please let me know by private message.

Also, if you can't find a thread that was previously in the General Discussion, you might try Google search and type in:

-EpicureanFriends.com and the topic or title-

...(which sometimes works better than the forum search function).

Hi Everyone, You may notice that there are a few changes in the forum structure...and also the drop-down menus.

Most notable is that "General Discussion" has been renamed to "Uncategorized Discussion (General)". This means that only posts on topics which do not already have existing categories should go into the "Uncategorized Discussion".

    Here is the new description:

This discussion sub-forum covers anything which doesn't fit within our existing Epicurean philosophy sub-forum categories. Please double-check if your post topic falls into an existing category. For help finding the correct category visit our short-cuts page. Or you can click here to return to the full forum list. Newer members: if you are unsure of where to post, you can ask where to post in your welcome thread (or send a private message to a moderator or admin). (P.S. We are currently working to file earlier general posts into their correct locations).

I'll be doing a bit more work soon on the "short-cuts" page, and that will help everyone with locating where exactly to post.

fyi - there is a lot of old but good stuff that had previously been posted under "General Discussion" (now labeled "Uncategorized Discussion") that will need to be moved over to the correct categories, and it will take a while to do so. And oddly enough, over the last several years we have basically ended up with two forums: the "general discussion" forum and the categorized sub-forums). There are many threads which duplicate the same discussion topics and questions (2 or more times!) that were posted in "general discussion" even though there are existing categories of sub-forums.

Thank you everyone for your understanding and help in posting content in relevant locations.

And if you have any questions, please ask! Thanks! :)
