Greek πάθη (pathē), singular πάθος (pathos)
The feelings of pleasure and pain, the third criterion of truth. They are nature's own guide: every living thing pursues pleasure and avoids pain, and the feelings are the standard by which we judge what to choose and what to avoid. See The Criteria of Truth and Pleasure Is the Guide.

Quote from Diogenes Laertius 10.34 (The Feelings as the Third Criterion)The internal sensations they say are two, pleasure and pain, which occur to every living creature, and the one is akin to nature and the other alien: by means of these two choice and avoidance are determined. Of inquiries some are concerned with things and some with nothing but words. (Bailey)
