I found this paper refreshing if for no other reason than that it takes Socrates "down a peg or two" as the saying goes. The idea of Alfred North Whitehead that:

...has, from my perspective, stunted the growth of philosophy, science, and other realms of knowledge for centuries. The "deification" of Plato (and, by extension, Socrates) was a mistake on a grand scale. It's refreshing to see that not *everyone* in the ancient world though Socrates and Plato were the be-all and end-all.
