  • I like the message although the Roman Empire was most unjust and corrupt. I'd have rather preferred life amongst the free germanic tribes in the woods.

    • Ha - that would be a great analogy too. I posted another thread about how we need to look for sources of public domain graphics, and that's really not limited to Greco-Roman. Any context is going to come with lots of preconceived notions buried in it, but it would be a mistake i think to back up to the point of refraining from any representations at all. Epicurean philosophy is about nothing if it isn't about reality -- I think the interesting point is just that there's no single "best" social structure that everyone has to look toward. The key points transcend any limited cultural implementation.
